Statement of Faith

The Sanctuary Liberal Catholic Church is rooted in the historic Catholic and apostolic tradition, expressed through reverent sacramental worship and lived out in a spirit of openness, conscience, and love.

We believe in one God, the source of all being, love, and truth, made known to us as Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. We affirm Jesus Christ as the living revelation of God’s love, whose life and teachings call us to compassion, justice, healing, and reconciliation.

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ in the world, called to be a sign of hope, mercy, and welcome. The Church is at its best when it offers sanctuary rather than judgement, accompaniment rather than exclusion, and love rather than fear.

We honour the sacraments as outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given for the nourishment, healing, and growth of God’s people. We affirm the central place of the Eucharist in the life of the Church as a sacred table where all are invited and none are turned away.

We believe that conscience, prayer, reason, and experience are essential to the life of faith. We affirm theological diversity and encourage thoughtful exploration, trusting that truth is best sought in humility, dialogue, and love.

We believe every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent dignity and worth. We commit ourselves to equality, inclusion, and the affirmation of all people, regardless of background, identity, or life journey.

We believe we are called to serve and to heal — to work for justice, peace, and the wellbeing of creation — and to live out our faith through compassion, generosity, and active love in the world.
